Ministries Programs All GBC 2016: A Disciple-Making Church
On June the 5th, 2011 Germantown Baptist Church adopted a new vision for our local body to begin a strategic process of becoming a "disciple-making church". GBC 2016 is our formal expression of that vision. This plan provides priorities for decision-making, direction for ministry, and an overall trajectory designed to give expression to the Great Commission. By affirming this plan, the GBC church family is approving the Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Guiding Priorities, and Goals, as well as affirming the core concepts and general direction of the overall plan.
GBC historically has been a church with a vision and has been innovative in accomplishing its vision. Now is the time for GBC to confirm a fresh vision for today. This vision must inspire and unify the body to be faithful in Great Commission ministry that is effective, innovative, and relevant for today’s generation.
A broad statement of this vision for GBC is articulated in GBC: A Disciple-Making Church. The focus is the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20; All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have com- manded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
This vision will involve focusing our ministries, committees, teams, Bible study groups, and programs on equipping and mobilizing our members to make disciples and spread the Gospel to this community, our region and beyond.
Below you will find a video supporting this vision for our church as well as documentation concerning the details and logistics of carrying out this mission that God has laid on our hearts.
