Read:   Psalm 99:1-9

God is great and God is good;
Let us thank him for our food.
By his hand we all are fed;
Give us Lord our daily bread, Amen.

Over the years, I have probably prayed that prayer 10,000 times. And for many of those years, I didn’t reflect too much on what I was saying. But, Psalm 99 gives new clarity to those words. God is great and God is good. God is sovereign and God is personal. These aren’t attributes of God’s holiness that nullify the other. Instead, they stand inseparably together as the very heart of what makes the God of Israel profoundly different from all the others.

Proclaiming God as great and God as good is not a matter of expediency. It’s not a means to eating more quickly. It’s a matter of holiness. It’s a matter of letting a sovereign God rule in the most personal way - of bowing down before him - and then going one step further: letting Him make our hearts His throne.

Pray:

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God to help you be a faithful steward of your time, talents, possessions, and relationships.  Offer prayers concerning your activities for this day and any special concerns you have.  Intercede for your local, state, and national governments.  Pray for spiritual revival in the nation and offer prayers regarding any current events and concerns.

Sing: Victor's Crown

Verse
You are always fighting for us
Heaven's angels all around
My delight is found in knowing
That You wear the Victor's crown

You're my help and my defender
You're my Saviour and my friend
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

At the mention of Your greatness
In Your Name I will bow down
In Your presence fear is silent
For You wear the Victor's crown

Let Your glory fill this temple
Let Your power overflow
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

Chorus
Hallelujah
You have overcome, You have overcome
Hallelujah
Jesus You have overcome the world

Verse
You are ever interceding
As the lost become the found
You can never be defeated
For You wear the Victor's crown

You are Jesus the Messiah
You're the Hope of all the world
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

Chorus
Hallelujah
You have overcome, You have overcome
Hallelujah
Jesus You have overcome the world

Bridge (repeat 4x)
Every high thing must come down
Every stronghold shall be broken
You wear the Victor's crown
You overcome, You overcome

Verse
At the cross the work was finished
You were buried in the ground
But the grave could not contain You
For You wear the Victor's crown

Chorus
Hallelujah
You have overcome, You have overcome
Hallelujah
Jesus You have overcome

Reprise Bridge (repeat 6x)
Every high thing must come down
Every stronghold shall be broken
You wear the Victor's crown
You overcome, You overcome
