Read:   Psalm 99:1-9

A boy grows up with a devoted father.  He sees him working hard to provide for his family.  His dad reads to him every night and comforts him when he has bad dreams.  He teaches him to catch a baseball and even coaches his little league team.  His father tells him how proud he is of him when he brings home good grades.  That boy lives to please his dad and likes nothing more than to spend time with him.  He sees how dad showers mom with attention and always makes her laugh.  He sees how friendly he is and helpful to the neighbors.  The boy admires his father more than anyone, and he wants to be just like him.

After the boys goes off to college, he begins to see that his parents are fighting.  Dad no longer showers his mom with all that attention, and it’s no longer laughter but tears he brings her.  The day he’s told dad is leaving mom for another woman, his world collapses.

It’s a harsh reality, but this world will be full of hurt and disappointment.  The worst of it will likely come from those we love and trust and even look up to.  If we’re honest with ourselves, it’s often us that do the disappointing.  These are the results of a fallen world.

Psalm 99:1-9 describes the only one who is worthy of our complete devotion.  God never has and never will disappoint.  He is above all things and He is perfect in every single way.  Because of God’s Holiness, our lives should be devoted to pleasing Him.  At times, His Holiness will make us tremble.  At times it will bring us great joy and comfort.  But it will never disappoint.

Pray:

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God regarding your family and your ministry.  Ask for help and guidance in sharing your Jesus with others and helping others grow in Him.  Offer prayers concerning your activities for this day and any special concerns you may have.  Intercede on behalf of local, national, and world missions.  Pray the Great Commission would be fulfilled and for any special concerns you may have for missions.

Sing: Victor's Crown

Verse
You are always fighting for us
Heaven's angels all around
My delight is found in knowing
That You wear the Victor's crown

You're my help and my defender
You're my Saviour and my friend
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

At the mention of Your greatness
In Your Name I will bow down
In Your presence fear is silent
For You wear the Victor's crown

Let Your glory fill this temple
Let Your power overflow
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

Chorus
Hallelujah
You have overcome, You have overcome
Hallelujah
Jesus You have overcome the world

You are ever interceding
As the lost become the found
You can never be defeated
For You wear the Victor's crown

You're the Hope of all the world
By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You

Hallelujah
You have overcome, You have overcome
Hallelujah
Jesus You have overcome the world

You were buried in the ground
But the grave could not contain You
For You wear the Victor's crown
